Venturi Scrubber

Important Points

Drizgas Tech is specialists in all types of venturi scrubber system. We are the leading manufacturer of venture scrubber in India for various industrial application.

Construction

  • A venturi scrubber consists of three sections: a converging section, a throat section, and a diverging section.
  • The inlet of polluted gases is passed through the converging section of the scrubber. Whereas, water containing the washed away particles and dissolved gases finds an outlet at the diverging section.

Features

  • Handle air flow rate from 100 to 30000 CFM
  • Removal method is Absorption / Chemisorption
  • Material of Construction: PP, PP+FRP, MS+FRP, GI, SS 304, SS 316
  • Can achieve moderate gas absorption for soluble/reactive gases
  • Removes coarse solids including sand, crushed rock, metals, and salts.
  • Effective for gas absorption and removal of high loadings of particulate
  • Effective scrubbing of gas streams with high concentrations of contaminants
  • Non-plugging, trouble free design for introducing the scrubbing liquid.
  • Abrasion resistant flooded elbow design to deter scrubber wear.
  • Cyclonic separator for mist elimination (no mesh pads or chevrons to clean or replace).
  • Integral sump or separate recirculation system designs available to minimize total water consumption.
  • Good for low volume gas flows, like tank vents, as stand-alone scrubbers
  • Can be used in combination with packed towers and other scrubbing technologies for emergency scrubbing of process vents and storage tanks
  • Ideal for foundry and mining industry applications
  • Scrubs high loadings of corrosive / flammable dusts at 95-98% efficiency

Mechanism

  • The inlet gas stream enters the converging section and, as area decreases, gas velocity increases (in accordance with Bernoulli Equation). Liquid is introduced either at the throat or at the entrance to the converging section.
  • The inlet gas, forced to move at extremely high velocity in the small throat section, shears the liquid from its walls, producing an enormous number of very tiny droplets.
  • Particle and gas removal occur in the throat section as the inlet gas stream mixes with the fog of tiny liquid droplets. The inlet stream then exits through the diverging section, where it is force to slow down.
  • Venturi can be used to collect both particulate and gaseous pollutants, but they are more effective in removing particles than gaseous pollutants
  • Liquid can be injected at the converging section or at the throat. Thus, the liquid coats the venturi throat making it very effective for handling hot, dry inlet gas that contains dust. Otherwise, the dust would have tendency to cake on or abrade a dry throat.
  • All venturi scrubbers require an Entrainment separator because the high velocity of gas through the scrubber will have a tendency to entrain the droplets with the outlet clean gas stream.

Features

  • Non-plugging, trouble free design for introducing the scrubbing liquid.
  • Easily adjustable venturi throat damper.
  • Abrasion resistant flooded elbow design to deter scrubber wear.
  • Cyclonic separator for mist elimination (no mesh pads or chevrons to clean or replace).
  • Adjustable spin damper for optimization of cyclonic separator performance.
  • Integral sump or separate recirculation system designs available to minimize total water consumption.

Additional features

  • Adjustable throat size and pressure drop
  • Adjustable spin damper for optimization of cyclonic separator performance.
  • Ideal applications include:
    • Aluminum, titanium and other metal machining operations
    • Sodium Azide propellant manufacturing and handling
    • Pharmaceutical powders and dusts
    • Calcium chloride dusts, Hygroscopic dusts
    • Corrosive dusts, Food processing with Clean in Place (CIP) option
    • Bulk solids drying process, Battery lead pasting
